What is HIFU?

HIFU is a type of thermal therapy. It functions on the same principle as burning paper by using a magnifying glass to focus light. High temperatures of 65-100^oC are applied to the target area to burn the target tissue. The thermal energy is generated via high-intensity ultrasound energy.
